The power of Resilience and Conviction

I'm restarting. Staying true to what I know, believe in and deeply care about, and there's infinite work to be done 🌍

A lot has changed in sustainability over the last few years. The focus has shifted to risk, compliance and reporting, often accompanied by a sense of fatigue, overwhelm, fear of wrongdoing or being criticised. The words "sustainability" and "ESG" have been politicised and negatively loaded, and give many leaders the chills.

My take is that this is actually a positive sign of normalization. It's not marketing anymore. The window for greenwashing is closing, and rules and systems for accountability are slowly being put in place — with a natural reaction of pushback, denial, lobbying, and the withdrawal of previously often too optimistic long-term commitments.

I want to be part of driving the normalization of integrated sustainability strategies, and show companies that:

☝🏼Sustainability frameworks and standards are helpful and necessary to structure and embed sustainability in governance, processes and systems.

✌🏼With a clear focus, transparency and a collaborative approach, sustainability can be transformative and rewarding.

🤟🏼Shifting from a risk-mitigation to an opportunity mindset and leaving the bubble of "business as usual" behind as a real alternative.

🖖🏼 Don’t strive for a perfect sustainability report. What matters is building trust and embarking on a progressive journey towards more resilient business models.

🦸🏼‍♀️ The past few months, I’ve geared up with some new superpowers to balance the “what and how” of sustainability with the “why” beyond profitability arguments, box ticking and hurdle jumping. I’m very excited to explore the path of feeling and connecting with the real need for change and visualising a way forward. So, stay tuned✨
