Setting Science Based Targets
According to my daughters, "First is the worst, second is the best, third is the one with the hairy chest." I'm happy to be the 3rd SBTi Certified Expert in Singapore💪🏻!!
🤓 I went deep on the GHG Protocol and SBTi's comprehensive carbon accounting system because I'm convinced companies need to understand what it actually means to set emission targets that are aligned with science. How are we going to change the trajectory without first assessing the situation and putting ambitious yet realistic plans in place?
🤔 Is it complex? Oh yes — GHG Protocol and SBTi are packed with rules for estimations and calculations. But in the same way financial accounting relies on internationally accepted standards, we're living in a time when companies, investors and institutions need trustworthy information about sustainability-related impacts. If we don't embrace established sustainability frameworks and standards, what's the alternative for achieving a systemic change that we all know needs to happen?
😀 I look forward to applying this expertise to support organizations in setting and achieving ambitious, science-based climate targets. I'm also happy to share my experience of the program with other professionals who are considering this pathway.
